The Bank of England Museum is a hidden gem in London, offering fascinating insights into the history of money and banking. It features interactive exhibits, gold bars you can touch, and a deep dive into the UK's financial system.

Entusiasmante Molto al di là di quello che immaginavo Non ci ho dedicato troppo tempo Ma è uno dei due musei di questo genere il cui ricordo mi esalta

Would have been better if it wasn’t full of school kids! Couldn’t get to see most of the exhibits but we maybe went at the wrong time. Maybe school groups should be given different times. But at least it’s free

Nice place to visit. It’s free administration and you can get a postcard if you could unlock the safe.

Not a must-see museum, but still interesting. There is information about the the history of the Bank of England, the building, and of money in general. One cool thing was the station where you can lift a gold bar (it wieighs 13 kg).

The Bank of England Museum, established in 1998, showcases the rich history of the Bank, founded in 1694. Located in the heart of London, it offers visitors a fascinating journey through British monetary history, featuring exhibits on currency, banking, and the development of the national economy. The museum highlights the role of the Bank in shaping the financial system, with interactive displays and historic artifacts, including early banknotes and gold bars. It offers free admission and is a must-visit for those interested in finance and British history.

Contrary to our expectations, it was not as large and magnificent as the National Bank of France Museum in Paris. But it gives interesting and good information, especially its up-to-date information about digital money and the UK government' approaches.

Interesting insight into the financial history of the country and glimpse into changes ahead. You can lift a bar of gold, which is surprisingly heavy. It's free to enter.

Lovely little museum that tries to make this a really inspiring and engaging subject for kids (as well as adults!). Well worth an hour of your time - great setting too. No booking, we turned up at opening time and got straight in after a bag scan. No food options but clean facilities and some cafe options nearby.

I have heard and planned for this visit for a long time so was pleased I finally got to the museum in the week. It was a weekday and we arrived walking from Canon street station. There was a queue at the front, manned by a security guard who reassured we didn’t have long to wait. There is a thorough bag search on entry with body scan. The lady at the reception mentioned a trail with a prize we got one per family with pencils to find letters along the museum. We took a map to know where we were going. Toilets and changing facilities are available and there’s were near and tidy. We won a gold bar pin for completing the trail around the museum. There’s no eating or drinking permitted so simply a visit and we went out for lunch. It is free entry and no tickets or booking is required just arrive and queue.

Small, but very informative museum about the history of BoE, including many examples of bank notes and cheques throughout the ages. The gold section is particularly interesting (you even get to handle a gold bar!). My 11 year old son found it interesting too, so recommended for kids. Best of all, it's one of London's free museums. Time required 60-90 mins.

Exhibits are a bit limited. Seems like a good place for children.
